Rivers

Madhumatinadi: A river in Magura, Faridpur, Narail, Gopalganj and Bagerhat districts of southwestern Bangladesh. The river is 180 km long, 406 m wide and the nature is serpentine. The identification number of the Madhumati river given by the Bangladesh Water Development Board or "Paubo" is River No. 84 in the south-western region. The Madhumati river originates from the Gorai river flowing in Nakol union of Sreepur upazila of Magura district. Then the water of this river flowed to Kalatla union of Chitalmari upazila of Bagerhat district and fell into Shaldaha river. Although the flow of water is stagnant in the dry season, the river basin overflows during the monsoon. The upper reaches of the river are affected by tidal influences

Nabaganga River: A river in Khulna, Jessore, Chuadanga, Jhenaidah, Magura and Narail districts of southwestern Bangladesh. The length of the river is 214 km, the average width is 75 m and the nature of the river is spiral. The identification number of Nabganga river given by Bangladesh Water Development Board or "Paubo" is River No. 45 in the south-western region. It is a tributary of the Mathabhanga River. From Mathabhanga, the Ganges has been renamed as 'Nabaganga'. After flowing eastwards from Chuadanga, it flows southwards along the Kumar River at Magura and the Chitra River at Narail and falls into the Bhairab River. Ichhamati used to be a tributary of the river, but now it has become a tributary of the Bhairab river due to flooding.

Phatki river

 A river in the Magura and Jhenaidah districts of southwestern Bangladesh. The length of the river is 49 km, the average width is 35 m and the nature of the river is serpentine. The identification number of Phatki river given by Bangladesh Water Development Board or "Paubo" is River No. 55 in the south-western region. Phatki river originates from Nabganga river flowing in Hazrapur union area of ​​Magura Sadar upazila of Magura district. The river then flows through Kullia Kuchiamora in Gangarampur Bunagati Union Sadar Upazila of Shalikha Upazila of the same district to Arpara and falls into the Chitra River. During the monsoon season, the flow of water in the river increases more than usual. At that time the river bank area was flooded. The downstream area of ​​the river is affected by the tidal effects.

Gorai River: Known as a major tributary of the Padma. It is an important river for the south-western part of Bangladesh.The river Gorai originates from the Padma river flowing in Hatshahripur union of Kushtia district and flows up to Nakol union of Sreepur upazila of Magura district and falls into Madhumati river. At one time the main stream of the Ganges flowed through the river Gorai, although Hughli-Bhagirathi was the original stream of the Ganges. The Gorai River originates from the Padma at Talbaria, 19 km downstream of the Hardinge Bridge north of Kushtia district. The river flows through Kushtia district and enters Jhenaidah district at a place called Ganeshpur. It then flows along the Jhenaidah-Kushtia border and enters the Rajbari district through a village called Chadar. It then flows along the boundaries of Jhenaidah-Rajbari district, Magura district-Rajbari district and Magura district-Faridpur district and flows through Narail and Bagerhat districts under the name of Madhumati river.

Chitra River: A river in important districts of southwestern Bangladesh. The length of the river is 162 km, the average width is 53 m and the nature is serpentine. Identification number of Chatkhali river given by Bangladesh Water Development Board or "Paubo" River No. 34 in the southwest is a huge coastal river in the Ganges-Padma system flowing in the southwestern part of Bangladesh. It is 160 km long and originates from Chuadanga and Darshan lowlands to the southeast. It flows through Kaliganj, Shalikha and Kalia upazilas of Magura and joins the Nabganga river at Gazirhat and joins the Bhairab river near Daulatpur in Khulna.
